The adaptor is a simple cable that cost around $29

I have the Alpine W-200 and have really enjoyed it. The only thing you need for your Ipod is the speed connect cable,,,,Plugs into headunit and directly to your Ipod,,,also charges Ipod....I dont think there is any easier way to connect Ipod.

I hope this helps.

Does anyone know of a good thread anywhere comparing the various proprietary ipod interfaces?

I can offer the following:
Pioneer AVIC D1: "B-" Perfect audio quality, no noise, only 8 characters of song title or artist displayed on enormous blank screen, non scrollable.

Blaupunkt - "F" - Decent audio quality, harddrive noise between tracks, Limited to 99 songs/playlist, song title auto-scrolls across screen.

I understand the new Avic N3 interface is nice, but I am pissed that Pioneer does not offer a software update for the existing Avic line. What? I am supposed to put up another $1000 for a new unit to get what could have been a software upgrade?

the Clarion MAX675VD which i will be getting soon! it also will play videos from your video ipod. also i think with the alpine you can't do a genre search but with the clarion you can. the clarion will also remember that you were in shuffle mode and remember what was played when you stop and restart the car, the alpine doesn't. the clarion head unit has better ipod compatibility.
