V3 goes on easy, doesn't smell too bad. If you put each layer on too thick you will be waiting several hours for it to dry. If you do it right, after about an hour you can put the next coat on. Actually if you attack a huge part of the car like the whole trunk by the time you are done painting one coat you may be ready to put a second coat on back where you started Don't use it outside the car according to their tech. support. Use second skin audio sludge for outside the car (wheel wells). Make sure you clean the surface with rubbing alcohol. Make sure it is above 50deg. Basically everything they say on their web site is true and follow the instructions. The only problem I had with it is that I put it on way too thick in a couple of small places using the last of it up and took FOREVER for it to dry (like 6-8 hours!). THe other thing is that when you take certain parts of the car apart you may loose reference as to where the panel ends and may apply edead past the boundary and it will be visible with the panel back on. When you do your first coat, within the first couple of minutes gently re-fit the panel so you don't pull a dumb one like a couple of us have. Mine came off but I could have caught it a lot quicker. If you screw up, wipe it off with wet rag right away or even rubbing alcohol if it has started to dry a little.
Since you are looking at v4 I assume you want to kill some road noise. In most places in the car you should look into also having a layer of open cell foam to help more with the noise. Also v4 is kind of expensive but if you have the money it looks more convenient than buying sheets of neoprene and cans of spray glue so go for it. When you consider the cost of the glue, I probably spent $1.50 a square foot and you would be spending $2 a square foot.
