I just wanted to know if anyone has heard these speakers? I currently have pro60's in the car but they have given me nothing but trouble and sub par sound since I installed them. I would upgrade to the Z's but I'm not sure if they are much better. I know MB Quart is a good speaker maker but I just want to be sure before I purchase them.
I have the tweeters in the kickpanels and the mids in the doors. You will need to dynamat the doors b/c they will rattle. If the tweeters are low and off axis they sound good, but if you put them high and toward you, watch out, they will scream.
MB Quart makes damn good speakers. Its all I use, but i havent tried the QSD series yet as they are a bit too rich for my weaksauce wallet. I usually get either reference series or premier
I have a set of MB Quart PCE216's in my Z right now, a step below the QSD's. They do not sound half as good as they did in the store (on axis in a box). I have the tweeters and woofers installed in the stock locations. I noticed that there are several frequency spikes and dips. It could just be the poor speaker placements in the car and not the speakers. After tuning them for about 2 hours with a 10 band parametric eq, they sound pretty good. There are other speakers you may want to consider that is in the same price range as the QSD's such as Rainbows, Polk SR6500, and Zapco Competitions.

I always heard good things about the polks, i'll check those out as well. I just want a speaker that reproduces great sound at high volumes. I am sorry but the BA's sound like crap, I've tried to tweek them and adjust the equalizer settings but they still suck...

OK, i did some research on the polk sr6500 series and they have recieved nothing but 5 stars from crutchfield and sound domain. does anyone have any opinions on these? also do they sound good at high volume? I might go ahead and get these.
You can do ALOT better, but it depends on what your taste in sound is. I would look at Dynaudio or CDT or Focal Kevlar's. The mid-bass will be comparable, but the Quarts have the harshest, most irritating tweets I have ever heard. BUt again, if you're gonna spend that kind of money, I would actually listen to them.

Yea, I figured. And one of my main concerns with the Pro 60's is that the tweets are rediculous!! So if the Quarts are like that as well, I won't even bother. How do the Polk's SR6500 sound?
Well I went ahead and ordered the polks, I'll give feedback once they are installed! Wish me luck!

I will be selling my pro60's just to give everyone the heads up for prolly $250.00. They work fine, but I just wanted better sound quality. I'll post in the classifieds as soon as they are uninstalled and ready to ship.

I would've but the problem is that no major store down in south florida carries speakers such as, rainbow, dynaudio, focals....those are like special order. if I don't like the polks, i'm gonna have to do more research on the ones you suggested. However, everywhere i've looked, the polks have gotten great ratings...so we'll see what happens. thanks for the info though.
A lot of the harshness also comes from processing of the music. For example, I had my system running through a Sony receiver and the tweeters sounded like they were going to pop my ears out. I switched to an Alpine receiver, much much better. Now that I've switched to my carputer, it's pretty dramatic.
I used to have the MB Quarts QSD 216 in my golf GTI. Sounded great paired with JL 300/4. I moved these to the 350z, sounded alot different. Mid was lacking (i even dynomated my doors). Tweeters was overpowered. Took alot of time to get a balance but still didnt sound that good, for the price. You could try putting the tweeters in the kick panel like someone suggested if u are planning on getting it. I got a pair of Focal Utopia component afterward. Sounds alot better. Mid bass was unbelievable. highs were not as powerful as the QSDs but overall the set is alot more balanced.

have you heard the polks? i know a lot of ppl that buy a product tend to be bias towards that product...i know the mb quarts are a great speaker, but i've heard that the tweeters are harsh and overbearing, and i've heard that same info from people not on this forum. futhermore, that's the biggest problem i currently have with my BA's.
