Default Kick or JL

Alright. I'm tired of having to think about. I'm trying to figure out which one of these subs I want. Help me out lease. JL Audio 10w7 or Kicker Solo-Baric L7... How do these sound in the car? .

JL audio all the way i bet that w7 would be louder and sound clenaer then 2 kicker l7 i mean i herd both there both good but JL sounds by far better plus if u run kickers even 20watts more then rated they break jl's on the other hand ive ran 12" w6 at around 500 to 600 and never broke them

properly installed and tuned, both will sound find in the car. the w7 is a little louder than the L7, but make no mistake the L7 can put out a lot of bass, espeically in certain types of enclosures...

there is not even a remote chance a single 10w7 can be louder than TWO L7 as stated by the above post.

so if it were up to me, it would come down to this:

L7: cheaper, shallower and easier to mount, lighter, not quite as loud, doesnt quite sound as musical

W7: more expensive, deep and difficult to find place to mount, heavy, a litle louder, and can sound a little better...

so i guess it depends on your budget in the end...

its true JL usually makes a slightly better product, but people really shouldnt knock kicker, they are FAR FAR FAR away from being a junk brand.

Thanx. So with one 10L7 There wouldn't be to much of a differance then with a 10W7? Cus I am a bit of a bass head and was wondering if this would satisfy my appetite. What kind of amp would you recommend?

if you are a bass head, again depends on your budget...

one 10w7 will output more than one 10l7
two 10l7 will output more than one w7

there ARE other stuff out there that fits your desire as well...why dont you tell me your budget?

I have a 10L5 Kicker running ~450Watts (I have Kicker's 700.5 amp)...I don't think I've come close to turning it up all the way. I'm not a huge sound system type of person, but right after I installed it, I took it out to see what it could do - it started to hurt my ears before I noticed distortion.

*I'm running the 10L5 in Kicker's ported box.

I use to buy nothing but JL. For some reason I like the old school W6s. Had some 12W6v2s and wasn't really impressed. Heard my buddies L7s and they actually sound better. Couldn't tell which hit harder. Guess it comes down to enclosure and how your car reflex sound. I say get whats cheaper or lighter....you don't want extra weight slowing down the automatic. =P

specs like those things barely mean anything just so you know...

frequency response varies wildly by enclosure size, tuning, and car's interior..

to give a 24-100hz means waht? -3db down? -10db down? in how big of an enclosure? in waht car?

but honestly, a good 10" sub in the Z properly installed, should be able to reach down to 15-20hz -3db ish no problem with a good sealed box toward the bigger side of their reocmmended enclosure...

Im running a 12L7 on around 650 RMS 2ft^3 sealed. Gets real deep and hits pretty hard. You can find the L7s for about 230 brand spankin new JL is a very good brand, but their price is a little steep.

i agree wut everyone else said not knocking kicker but if ur a bass head like me then u need the jl one ten inch w7 will sound real nice and pound like hell but dont skimp on the amp atleast a 500/1 or more if possible u want the amp to have more power then needed so u dont push the amp to the max get alot better sound like that i got 2 12inch w6 and a jl 1000/1 and pounded really hard enough to make my mirror point to the floor after a few minutes lol but if your low on money go with the kicker or go for 2 ten inch w3
