help
Im getting ready to upgrade and on a tight budget or cant justify spending allot of money on so many speakers in such a small car.
So i found a old radio in my basement, its a pioneer Keh p8600R.
Im sure this will sound allot better than the stock unit. (base model btw)
i ordered a cd changer and 2 JL 650CX i think it was.
Just wondering if i should replace the front ones in door or the rear ones.
hope you guys recommend the rear's as i dont really want to change out fronts due to door panels and spaces required to close windows. thanks...

hi cintel
well i followed your advice about changing hu and speakers as you can see.
you think that pioneer hu is ok?
ok so the doors huh......thats gonna be fun
the thing is the speakers i ordered have tweeters on them , so what to do with the tweeres that are allready there?
should i leave the tweeters in place? or dissconect as these jbl's allready have tweeters on them?
and howbout sticking the stock front speakers in the back, using them as fill as they do seem to sound much better (4 ohm vs 32 ohm i guess), i can allways use the fader lower the rears as fill.
As you know the amp and sub ar gonna come much later.

since you already have the tweeters on your fronts, you need to disconnect your stock tweeters. the crossover on the stock system most likely is not the same as the one the comes with your fronts. Besides. you won't want 4 tweeters creaming at you.
as for the Pioneer HU, I don't know how old it is or model, but if you are going to install the Pioneer HU, make sure it has pre-outs. If it does, connect the preouts and run it to the rear. That way, even if you don't have an amp right now, you can save yourself some time in the future when you decided to use amps for your system. If the Pioneer is too old and it doesn't have a preout, I would just stick to the HU for now until you get a nicer HU.
as for the rears, yes you can use your old ones, like you said, you can fade them out if you don't like them.
FYI: on door panel and fronts speaker replacement.
first you need 1 inch spacer, you can fabricate on out of wood like someone on this board. make sure you don't break any of the plastic retainers, it will cost about $1.50 to replace each so be care with them. I broke two of them.
FYI: on dash kit removal, make sure you have a Metra dash kit if you decided to go that route.
good luck buddy..
I had to take out my door panel twice (damn it) , forgot to replace the stock speaker wires the first time.

Thank you for your response. I plan on replacing the front and rear speakers with Infiniti Kappa's. How difficult is it to replace the speaker wire? Do the front's wire go directly to the head unit?

deciding on spaces either using rubber pluming like zgirl used or a wooden spacer, but i aint no lumber jack.
Stock wiring looks really crap will need to replace.
thinking about destroying front speaker to use that spacer.
the cd changer i got needs direct battery power can i connect to the battery power to hu or do i need a seperate supply?
wish i had a garage.
the pioneer i installed does have RC jacks. rear front and subwoofer.
i got to get back to work

Dutch,
you don't really need a separate power supply for the cd changer, but if you decided to run one, run another wire (for future amps), that way you don't have to take things apart again.
maserom,
there is an opening about the size of your pinky right underneath the wire bunder (black rubber bunder) when you open your door. now I had to drill another hole from the inside of the car to get the wires through both holes. I use the Audioquest cables that barely smaller than the holes, but I manage to get them through. After you get the wires through, you need to cut a small opening at the door (cut the black rubber bundle) and get the wire through your speaker.
I don't have the stock HU, so all my wires are running from an amp sitting behind the driver seat. If you do have a stock HU then unfornately, you will need to find out what wires go where and then connect your speaker wires to them.
