I just ordered my reverse camera. I have the Navigation video interface which I am currently using a xbox as my video source. As far as installing the camera I know I have to hook up the video cable but not sure on the power wire. I assume you hook up the power wire to the reverse lights????? Is this correct? Any input would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

 

You can use any source of accessory supplied DC power. The reverse lights would work but so would the power to the antenna amplifier. The power requirements for a camera as just very very tiny.

 

if you want the camera to turn on only when in reverse, then use the reverse lights power.

if not, you can wire it up to any constant power source, but remember that the camera will be on when that accessory is one. wiring it up to a switch might be a good thing too.
