I have used a Valentine One for a while and very happy with it. No tickets yet, knock on wood.

Escort/V1, are the only two I'd have.

I went with the Escort Passport 8500 x50. Everyone will tell you to go with the V1. However, it does come with a big price tag. The x50 doesn't have the Directional arrows that the V1 has, and it isn't upgradable like the V1. However, the reviews and the research told me that it was a close second to the V1.

I got my 8500 slightly used on ebay for $220 shipped.

What ever you do, make sure you get a detector compatible with this:

Also, this topic has been discussed so many times its rediculous. Do a search for "radar" and you will find a ton of information.

I have 4 v1's and one escort. Honestly...i love the arrows on the v1 but i'm going to get on the brakes before i look to see where the cop is anyhow. Escort has good range, nothing bad to say about it really. I would say if you don't have the money to get a v1, get the escort.

I have been using the escort 8500 for quite a while and I am very happy with it. I have heard a lot of good things about the Valentine as well, but last time I checked, it was abot $100 more.

How is it upgradeable? I have looked through the manual and also the website, and I can't find any information.

Thanks for the help.
