Default computer reset a good idea?

Hi y'all, one of the dealership employees recommended I disconnect the battery so that the computer would reset itself after the first few hundred miles. Is this standard practice? Is it a bad idea? I kind of get the feeling it is but wanted to know if any of you had heard of this. I appreciate any feedback, thanks.

thanks Dave. The guy said it would "reset the computer," which unless it absolutely needs to be done, shouldn't happen, just like a desktop or laptop. I think he was nuts.
