Default will these fit in front (component speakers)

I listened to them and really like them, only problem is that the guys at the shop said they have a HUGE magnet and are deep. Anyone know if they fit (if I have to build a spacer, fine, BUT I want them to fit with teh stock speaker cover).

btw, crutchfield lists them as a 6 3/4, BUT many other vendors say they are 6 1/2"

Anyone know??

As far as I know, they should fit depthwise if you use a spacer. You could make a ring of MDF or see about buying the premade plastic ones from an install shop or circuit city.

Someone on here had the Polk MOMO 6 1/2s installed. They have a mounting depth of 2 13/16". The Alpines you are looking at are 2 3/4" (only a difference of 1/16"). If you have to, just make a slightly taller spacer and you should be fine.

Rod, there is lots of room betwen the door frame and door panel, that shouldnt be a problem. I would guess 3-5" clearance.

2003z, that is GREAT news, I have listened to these speakers and found them to sound great for hte $$, BOTH shops that I went to didn't highly suggest them right off b/c they said the magnet is so large/deep (maybe they assumed that I wanted somehting that can just BOLT in without using MDF as a spacer?)

2003z or anyone else, is there anything else that you see on the specs on these speakers that could prohibit them from fitting??

i had some infinity kappa 63.5i speakers installed (front and back).....many people on this forum had them put in as well. for some reason, the front ones hit the grill and push them out a tiny bit (maybe the schmuck at circuit city just did a crappy job). but, i told him i wanted it re-done and he said the window got in the way when it was rolled down if he mounted the speaker any furthur back. another thing....the stock base (not bose) stereo can't handle these speakers in the front and the back. the difference in ohms makes them crackle when they are played at the same time. i am installing a new head unit anyway....but he said that would get rid of the crackling. was he wrong? did he lie to me and just push me out the door?

I am pretty sure he just didn't set you up with a bracket of some sort. There is plenty of room in there. Sounds like he just doesn't want to do the work.

well rodh, i hope they fit because those are the ones that i've already purchased and plan on installing in my z. I dont see it being a problem because the doors are so fricken huge but it they dont...you can always do something custom to make them fit...
