Default can a 12" sub fit in factory sub location (modified)

I have a 12" sub (a GREAT sub that i'd like to use and NOT have to buy a 10"). Could I Dynamat the stock area and put a flat piece of MDF just behind the factory area, or maybe even bolt the 12" behind the factory metal faceplate, BUT use a spacer built from MDF so it recesses a bit, would anything like that work???

thnx!!

what brand of sub?

You can try it, but keep in mind that the sub opening is at an angle so if the sub is too long, its not going to work. You can build a custom box and have the sub point up instead of out the stock opening.

I couldn't fit my Kicker L7 10" in there.... Good Luck!!! You might be able to build it in there firing up but it would probably sound like crap... Just venting from my experience.... The compartment is big but shallow from top to bottom.........
