Sirius or XM?
This has been discussed fairly extensively in other threads.
You might try a search using "satellite radio", "xm radio", or "sirius". Those search keywords should get you most of the threads.

Besides, Sirius filed for bankrupsy
I just looked at Sirius and there isn't anything mentioning a past or pending bankruptcy. They recently recapitalized (i.e. exchanged stock for debt), but it doesn't appear that they filed for bankruptcy. I found nothing on Sirius' website, nor any financial website to suggest they are in/going into bankruptcy. Also, their stock chart shows nothing to indicate that they've ever made such an announcement.
There is another stock, "Sirius Financial Solutions" for with I could find very little information. Perhaps this is the company that is in financial distress.

I chose XM because of the price and the chanel lineup. I guess alot of others share my view. I think if Sirius doesn't do something fast, they're done for.

Sirius is actually has better channels/programming but XM has better equipment like the SkyFi. I had XM in my other car but I'll probably go with Sirius in the Z. I shouldn't buy anything from these jerks since I lost about 90% of my stocks value when I bought SIRI a couple years back.

I still have yet to hear someone that has satellite radio say anything bad about it.

Here is something bad. During football season I like to listen to local sports radio so I don't use it much.
re: Sirius. For invetment purposes I have been carefully following the company. There is no bankruptcy or prospect of bankruptcy. In connection with the recapitalization, if the company didn't get sufficient approvals from shareholders and bondholders, it would have filed a prepackaged bankruptcy, but it got more than sufficient approvals. It is now debt free and has enough money to continue to operate into next year. The subscriber base seems to be growing, aand cars are being sold with the service as an option. Both XMSR and Sirius should succeed -- before deciding you may want to check out the content of each provider, and consider that in exchange for the slightly higher monthly fee for Sirius, you get no commercials. BTW, I don't yet have Sirius in my car, but I expect someday to upgrade the stereo so I can subscribe to Sirius.
Lets just say that I get an email everyday that says: "Alert, SIRI is below your mark of 49.00 at xxx." I was going to buy it back in 1999 when I first heard about it in a retailer magazine. It was at $69.00 dollars then. Now the stock is less than a soda.
This could mean lead to two answers:
1) don't buy the product because the service is over-priced to compensate for prior losses and future support/features is unlikely.
2) buy the product now, since it can only get better, and like most subscription/plan-based products, the sooner you sign up, the cheaper it will be in a few years when everyone else is signing up for a higher price (ie cell phone plans).
I thinks Sirius has a chance because:
They were the first to get Defense-level satelite approval (XM followed shortly- and then blew up a satelite). XM got a few key contracts first, but Siruis got Kenwood and Dodge/Jeep/Eagle/Chrysler- so there should be some silver lining soon.

Here is your retail lineup of satellite radio receivers:
XM: Pioneer, Alpine, Sony
Sirius: Clarion, Kenwood, Jensen, Eclipse, Audiovox, JVC, Sanyo (more to come)
OEM (manufacturer level)
XM: GM, Ford, Nissan
Sirius: Nissan, BMW, Damlier/Chrysler
Sirius has some agressive programs, and thier signup rate has increased dramatically in the last 30-45 days. If you want to compair programming, Sirius has more commercial free programming, and in my opinion, a better mix of music. Sound quality is similar to XM, but I give the nod to Sirius. As to other programming, Sirius has been broadcssting NBA games for the last 45 days, as well as the speed channel.
As to financing and stock value, Sirius has plenty of operating capitol. And as to thier stock loosing value...show me one tech stock that hasen't taken it in the shorts over the last year or so.
I admit that I am partial to Sirius, as I have it im my Z, but I have had a chance to compair XM and Sirius side by side in the same vehicle and my nod goes to Sirius.
Anyway, you can take this whole post at face value, as it's my opinion, and I'm sticking to it. (and I don't work for Sirius or XM)

Like jeffa, I listened to both XM and Sirius and selected Sirius. In fact Sirius is in both of my cars.
Down side to satellite radio, no sound in a tunnel. Why is that?
Kidding!

I think that XM has more options. For example the Sky Fi unit is a good deal for people that don't want to swap stereo's.
Also I wouldn't pay much attention to the whole commercial thing. XM runs about 2 minutes worth of comercials per hour. They both have a ton of commercials on their non-music channels.
Sirius is definitly gaining ground. I don't think you could go wrong with either one.
BTW-I have a Pioneer Head unit(CD) with the XM modulator for sale for $200(Originally $450). I had it for 6 months in my CRV before I traded it in. It works great I just don't want an aftermarket stereo in my Z.

Just got XM. And I must say that I love it! Got the car kit for the Z and the home kit for the office. I listen to it all day in the office. Much much better than radio, and the flexibility of the sky fi makes XM better than Sirius IMHO. Also, I hardly notice the commercials, enough channels, that I just switch.

I suggest people look at the choices both offer and then make your choice. they are very comparable. XM is more than 25% cheaper than sirius if money is an object. for that extra 3 bucks you can get playboy channel if it is not. choices. I have a cd player, cd changer and am, fm besides. I will use them all depending on what I desire.
i have yet to hear anyone say that one sounds better than other and I doubt if they do. Also both will lose signals.look at their programing. Actually each one has something that I would like so I guess I need both. but the differenc ein music would be the last reaon I would buy one over the other since most of us will ahve so many music options anyway. if there is music I ahve to have you can bet I will have it on cd. some of you will have it on MP-3's.
Either one is fine as long as they stay in business(and I think they will) I MADE MY CHOICE BY THE HU I WANTED. That wouldbe my suggestion to you. get the Hu you want and then by the satellite radio that it supports. That i how I made my choice. btw I like the rock choices, the decades and the soul. XM has fine music choices for me. But if Alpine would have hooke dup wth Sirius I woudl have had Sirius.
probably the biggest advantage besides price for XM is it's name. it works for me.
get THE HU(more important choice imo) YOU WANT FIRST AND THEN HOOK up your satellite radio. you will be fine with either one imo.
