Default Remote bass / gain **** mounting location

For all those with sub amps that have bass / gain *****....where is everyone mounting them? I have a Rockford Fosgate Power 1000BD amp. Its uses an older style (prob 2002 or so) Rockford Fosgate remote bass unit that is shaped like an oval cylinder. It connects with a standard telephone cable.

I'd rather not cut any holes in my interior if possible, but its looking like to get the cleanest install, and not have the somewhat bulkly remote bass unit in plain site, that I 'll have to cut a hole in the interior trim and mount the remote bass unit behind the trim with the **** sticking out. I'm thinking about cutting the hole to the right of the VDC off button. Or maybe near the heated seats buttons. I have the touring model. I'd like to know what everybody else is doing before hacking up my interior.
