wiring a battery backup siren
anyone know how the 4 wire battery backup sirens work>?
it has a keylock for on/off operation.
red for 12vdc
black for ground
white for + trigger
blue for - trigger
i have a (-) armed output on the alarm unit.
can anyone give typical scenerios of wiring these up?
they are cool, whether you have wiring connected and alarm activated or whether a thief cuts the wires, the siren still blows. he would literally need to sledge hammer the thing quiet.
i need some help on the wiring though, the mfgr was no help.
your help is greatly appreciated.

I can figure this out but need pictures.
It looks to me like the the red and black are power input to keep the second battery charged. They'd likely be protected from a short circuit attempting to smoke the second battery with a crowbar circuit of some sort.
The white and blue seem to be triggers to worth with either polarity of alarm signal.
But where is the second horn and battery? I'm assuming that they're internal to this thing.

'But where is the second horn and battery?" Paul350z it is a all in one unit that mounts in the engine bay area, what it is for is if the alarm is tripped and then bybassed that this backup unit will continue to sound even with the alarm disabled.
red for 12vdc = connect to battery with fuse
black for ground = ground
On your alarm, dont know witch one you have, but look for a wire that has trigger output that is active when the alarm is tripped.
white for + trigger
blue for - trigger

ok makes more sense. i was misguided my the mfgrs wiring diagram instruction. im going at it this weekend to see if it goes right. otherwise im calling in a friend that does this all the time.
i was wiring the red+12vdc to the alarm siren output., grounding the black to ground (chassis) and using the alarms "armed" output attempting both the trigger (blue or white) but the alarm still blew all the time.
it makes a little more sense.
paul this siren is the main siren for the alarm. when i say battery backup, i meant the siren was self contained in one unit and had its own battery backup, and on/off keyswitch. the only way to disable it when anything is not connected or when it blows is either proper wiring, or the key in the off position as an override.
the alarm is a 2 way paging type so IMO not as important is I decide not to use it. but i need to wire it properly.
in case the other explanation didnt cover it.
james if i understand this correctly, and big thanks your way.
wire red wire to 12vdc+ to fused battery connection
wire black wire to ground of chassis
wire white wire to alarms positive siren output
leave the blue wire unwired and crimp it from shorting.
