Default Audio Control DQL-8 for those wanting to keep stock HU

I found this the othe day I am pretty excited about. I am wanting to keep my stock head unit...well, just because I do. So I have been debating on JL Audios CleanSweep set up or Rockfords 3Sixty.2 application. But then I found this little jem and its got me pretty fired up!!

Anyone familiar with this unit yet?

you dont need it, nor do you need a 360, or a clean sweep...

if you have bose, all you need is a pair of line out converters , tap it before the bose amp, and then if you want to boost hte signal, put a line driver to it.

the stock bose headunit doesnt do much eqing to warrant any of those components, its all done at the amp...so tapping it before the amp will take care of it, its just that the sginal is really week so a good thing is to get a line driver to kick it up a notch...

Great suggestion B...but unfortunately, I do not even have a Bose system. I have got the bare bones AM/FM/CD.! Ha!

So am I in the right direction than going with the DQL-8?

Not really. All you still need is a $15 line-out converter (aka high to low converter) and you're in business. You can get it from Radio Shack or probably even Walmart.

as far as i know,t he stock headunit , even non-bose, doesnt do much eqing either...

but honestly, just to let you know, based on my experience, even the CS, 360, and what you are describ ing, doesnt sound nearly as good as even a mid level headunit to be honest, and definetly nowhere near as much tunability.

i personally believe those adaptors should be saved for cars where headunit addition is stictly impossible, say a new model merc S class, a6 or A8...etc etc...

i just dont see ht epoint sometimes of going through all that trouble in wiring, tuning, and cost to have it sound worse than even a 250-300 dollar headunit...

I don't disagree with you whatsoever...I was just wanting to keep the stock factory look as much as possible..and I like having usable steering wheel controls...even though my long monkey arms can reach the HU from the back of the car! Ha!

Oh well...I have a feeling based on the cost of the CleanSweep, 3sixty, and the DQL-8 that I am just going to give in and get a stupid aftermarket head unit. Mwah Ha Ha Ha.

I guess why spend all the money on a phenomenal sound system and have it headed up by a Sparkomatic HU!
