Default speaker swap?

is it possible to replace only the head unit, or only the speakers, or is this crappy bose system the same as in the z32's where the head unit, speakers, and wiring were all uniquely bose and not compatible with any aftermarket components?

I am pretty sure that everything must be changed. That was the case with my Acura Cl as well. It had a Bose system. The set up was a little different than the Z. To be honest I really liked the Set up in the Acura, but those are the breaks....

i have just replaced the front and rear speakers. This made a significant improvement! I like the look of the stock hu, it blends well. Try replacing the speakers first!

How much of a sound difference is there between the 2-way and the 3-way Kappa's? Just wondering why you chose the 3-way up front instead of using four 2-way's?

Also, I'm assuming you disconnected the factory tweeter's up front by the windows?

The only reason I put the 3 ways up front is b/c everyone else, stereo nerds are saying that is what to do so you get the highs up front. You can even put one ways in the rear. I did disconnect the tweeters up front, however i may upgrade later. Put the 3ways up front you'll be glad.

Don't you get highs with 2-ways? If I'm not mistaken, the difference between a 2-way and a 3-way speaker is an additonal midrange speaker on the 3-way to handle most of the "vocals". Most of the 3-way's I've listened to were too bright compared to the 2-ways of the same caliber.

I'll have to do more research.

Also in the LA area, wondering if you did your own installation or what shop you went to?

Thanks.

I dont' know the specifics on the speakers. Like I said, I'm just listnign to what everyone else, more knowledgable stereo people are doing. I did the speakers myself. It is fairly easy. There is a post on front speaker installing. It is very helpful. I'll email it you if you can't find it.
