I thought that I wouldn't get time to install them utill after getting back from vacation, but I had 2 hours today and thought that I'd at least start the process...well, I finished them! (it took about 2 hrs, 15 min total)
here's some pics of the process:
intial fitment:

once I got the pod so that it looked right, I used some wood clamps to hold them inplace (I added some blue tape to the clamps so that I wouldn't scratch the pods):

I turned the door panel over, and then pre-drilled 6 holes for the screws (supplied w/ pods)...I made a point of it to drill in the door panel where the OE speaker grille mounts to, so that if I ever need to sell the car, I can remove these and there won't be ugly holes in the door panels.

here's it partially install:

I tried taking pics from different angles to show that these are flush with the door - no gaps.

*in the pics, the pods look like a different color than the door...but when you see it in person, it's the same exact color, just differemt texture. Visually, they fit in w/ the car very well. The only thing I don't like is Kicker's grilles...I'll have to check around for something better.
I didn't have much time to listen to these, but the few minutes that I did, they sounded much better
; the fronts sounded clearer...never realized how much the OE grilles dampen the sound
