Default Are you using any DLS Products???

Okay, 16psiBrick swears by this company's product so he is not allowed to play in this post! (Ha! jk B...you know I always welcome your input) What I am looking for is folks that currently have or have used any of their products whether it be speakers or amps. I have been toying with the idea of purchasing Focal Mids and Highs and JL or eD amps. But a little birdie tells me that DLS is a much better product. So I am looking for lots of opinions and experience.

What are you using?

How do you like the product?

Did the product perform "below/at/above" your expectations?

Any problems with the product? Blown/Broke/Warranty Work Required?

Any problems with the company/customer service?

If you could do it over again, would you go with the same product, or would you choose a different brand?

Thanks,
Joe

I'll chime in here.

I've installed the iridium 8.3s and to be blunt, they blew me away. Very warm, well detailed, and at ridiculous volumes no listening fatigue at all. I don't think you'll be disappointed.

I have the iridium 6.3 w/ RA50 bridged to power them. Sounds awesome. With sufficient power you wont be disappointed. I can bump it up to very high volumes and there is no distortion. Sound is still very very clean. What it doesnt have is piercing highs that make your ears bleed, haha.

Simply said if you like the B&W "sound" ... these are your type of speakers ... very "warm" and reasonably powerful with excellent detail. Their CES showcars were both impressive and very well done. I haven't yet heard one of Bing's local cars ... but I think I can judge the product based on their championship winning SQ showcars.

I don't prefer due to their "shyness" or laid back sound but they are still excellent speakers. Their prices (for the content) are excellent too.

I have a pair of DLS ultimate UR6s components in custom kick panels made by Bing (16psibrick). The sound coming from these components amazed me.

This is my car that Mr X did the install in and i love these things. The detail is great and they are so clean. You won't be dissapointed with the DLS line of products. I'm saying this as a guy who's owned alot of car audio including Focal. This set of speakers blows my focals away.

at the end of hte day, comments mean nothing really, it comes down to listening with your own ears...

how about this, get a set of DLS ultiamte comps, let me do a set of kicks for you, throw 100 watts or more of clean power at it, if you dont think it sounds good, i will refund you fully haha

Did DLS come from MB Quart?...kinda like Arc Audio from Zapco... Several years back, a local dealer told me about a new company DLS that was formed from MB engineers. But then again...I dont believe half the things that comes out of his mouth. That guy said that he sells over 100 of those $70 kenwood speakers a month and that those speakers are better than most $300 sets.

uh please dont even put DLS in the same sentence as MBQ... polar opposites in terms of sound

DLS was founded in 1979 by a group of swedish audio engineers. early gen midrange drivers were sourced from morel, but since a long time ago have been their original designs. The overall sound signature is not unlike more, being warm and smooth.

if there are companys that people have related DLS to int he past, its morel due to early gen mid drivers, and Genesis, whcih DLS help to promote in terms of sales.

Since youare in maui, we do have a few DLS dealeres in hawaii, if you want, i can put you in touch wtih the hawaiian DLS rep, mike, a great guy...and he can give you a few shops to visit

also, i think arc audio would take offense to the comment that they came from Zapco... if you are saying someone hiring a amp desinger to help design their amps that formerly did work for another company, thats fine, but came from zapco may not be the best way to describe it. not to mention arc's spekaer lines have nothing to do with zapco.

Yeah, I had my doubts about the DLS history...Especially since they both use completely different speaker material. No offense meant by that comment. There is a local shop that carries dls, but like I said...he seems nuts.

If you put both on a soudboard and had a blindfold on and heard them both switched back and forth I would give you a 1 out of 10 chance of picking the focal's over the DLS.
