wow, next they will be tracking cop cars via satalite and beaming the info to your gps/nav

Here is the idea I had a couple years back: I called it the 'distributed bacon detector'.
Its basically a GPS, wireless network (e.g. over cellphone, 3G, etc.), and a button.
Anytime you see a cop, you press the button. The system sends the GPS location to a central server over the wireless network.
The central server updates you when you are near a cop, and an alert goes off.
The alert is basically a percentage chance there is a cop near. So it can be an audio or visual alert etc, with different levels depending on the percentage chance, your speed, etc.
An upgrade would have a map and would show your location and the police locations.
The problem is the classic chicken and egg. It's great if everyone had it, but noone will buy it unless enough people already have it.
If anyone builds it all I ask for is a free unit and free service.
