ElmScan 5 Diagnostic Scan Tool
I did a search on ElmScan and can't find any information here on this; so, does anyone have this or have used this? I am looking to buy something like this to add to my CarPC because of my occasional SES lights. and just to monitor stuff for future mods. I was just wondering if this was accurate? and if it was quick. I watched a video where they used it with Nokia's CarMan and it took a second or two to update which pretty much made any of the data worthless(rpm, speed, throttle position, fuel pressure, etc.) Does anyone have any input on this? And if it is good, does the software that comes with it work well? Or should I look into new software? And if so, what software?
Here is a link to what I am talking about.

I'm just starting to try out an Elmscan5 (USB variant) with ScanXL (aka PCMSCAN + extra mfr PID's). It updates RPM less than every half second or so - seems reasonably responsive but accurate measurements against tacho is hard.
My problem is the number of standard OBD PID's detected from the 350Z seems v.limited. I need to work out if I can read more & use a custom Java/Javascript plugin to handle more.
There must be more than RPM/IAT/VSS/ECT + a few others!

Played with the ElmScan5 1 more time with some different software (AutoEnginuity ScanTool, OBD 2007, Digital Dash 5 & wOBD). I can only see values for: ECT (Engine Coolant Temp), IAT (Intake Air Temp), RPM & VSS (vehicle speed).
Has anyone ever gotten any more out of an ElmScan5 (or any other OBD scanner)????
