Default Bose Audio should Be Ahamed!!!

I am an Audiophile who was in the business of high end home and car audio for years. I am still a an audio hobbiest today. I have had my Touring 350 Z for 7 weeks now, but, never even considered the audio system as a potential deal breaker when purchesing my car off the showroom floor (without a test drive). I assummed that the audio system would be at least adequate. I was absolutely WRONG! Trust me, it is very difficult to completely F@#%K up a car audio system, but, who ever put this system together DID it! I have a Saab 2003, 9.3, a 99 Toyota Camry, and a 95 Jeep. All of the audio systems in these cars are stock and each of them sounds much better than the Premium BOSE system. In my educated opinion, the Bose audio system in the new Z is almost unlistenable. It is extreemely boomy with a very annoying lack of clarity. ANYONE have contact information for Bose Audio? Please pass the information onto me so that I may contact them.

The terrible BOSE audio system is one of the main reasons that I bought the Enthusiast Model. My stock Clarion stereo sounds pretty nice in comparrison to the BLOWS.

I agree. I've basically spent the last two days researching how to improve or replace the Bose.

"Thats Funny...........Mine Actually Sounds Great".

I'm happy for you. You are obviously satisfied with mediority when it comes to sound reproduction, or, you also have really bad audio systems in each of the other vehicles that you own. You may even have some sort of hearing deficit?

I KNOW that the BOSE system in my Z sounds horrible through years of professional comparison with systems that sound bad, ok, good, or great.

I am asking for anyone who has contact with Bose to step forward and share.

I'm just comparing it to the base stereo in my Audi and the Bose sounds horrible. Actually, it sounds horrible in comparison to the stereo I've heard in a rented Ford Tarus.

Wow Lance... you sure are a dick. Have you ever thought that maybe not all Z stereos suck as bad as yours?
All I said was mine didn't have a problem... It actually sounds great, that is no reason to go on the attack....

You sure seem to be talking out of your *** for a "self proclaimed... audiophile".... If you are such a "high-end" professional, shouldnt you plan on an after-market setup anyway? I mean if you think Lexus puts such sub-standard systems in the LX and SC (top of the line cars), then you are the moron for expecting more out of a Nissan. And being a "High End Audiophile" shouldnt you have noticed the problem before you bought it.... You have the car now... Get over it and move on

You also dont seem to know how to spell.... What is a MEDIORITY sound system? .... Or should I be AHAMED to be asking?

Like I have told many peopel this actually isnt a real bose system like you would find in a S500 (which by the way sounds excellent in that car) its a Clarion (a cheep one at that) with a BOSE amp, and mic. (In a sh!^^y place) everything else is Clarion. The speakers are all cheep no real good material was used to make them. Also I have heard from several sources that BOSE hates to be mixed with anything other then BOSE. If you do you will have a sound system that sounds like @$$. I dont know why Nissan allways uses Bose mixed with Clarion parts but they have so, I expected nothing less when this came out with a BOSE Premium (ha thats funny) sound system. And to socolasida if you really want to hear a good sound system go to a Merc. dealer and close the door and crank a S500's sound system. You will then know what every one is talking about when we say it sounds like crap.

I think you will find many people who agree that the Bose system is nowhere near ideal. I just drove my roommate's old 4Runner and even that thing has a better sounding system.

The song that really makes it all apparent is that Kid Rock/Sheryl Crow song. Over the radio, the bass is overwhelming.

I don't think anybody is going to have a fix any time soon.

I definitely dont expect my Nissan Z stereo to sound like a S500 stereo... Neither did Nissan I bet.

People need to just replace the stereo and move on. To ***** and moan for 6 months about the stereo has got to keep you from truly enjoying the car... and that sucks. Bose isnt going to care... and neither is Nissan. Get over it.

look, even the BLOWS in my fathers new car (in the Pic) SL500 sounds like crap, BUT not as bad as ours, My wifes Jetta sounds pretty decent, it is the CHEAP VW system (not the Monsoon) and it BLOWS away my Blows!!!

btw, ANY AUDIOPHILE would know that Bose SUCKS, BUT!!!!!! there are some decent car systems that they have done, teh Z is NOT one of them!!!!

It depends on the music you are listening to. The music I was listening to was clasical since that all I could get at the time. The sounds was crisp and well placed in front of the occupents like it is saposed to be. However, like you said some people really dont like Bose I a best friend who is a tech for theaters and can't stand Bose cause of the faulty speakers they produce for stages since they use so much plastic. However from what I heard of the S500 it sounded good with classical but I didn't have it in drive so the mic were not engaged. However since I would have to lay down 70,000 for one of those Merc's I'd expect the best so I would expect nothing less from Bose then the best. So if its as bad as you say then man oh man did you get ripped.

It's average. If you're in the business of high end car audio, you should know most stock stereo's are average or below average quality. In order to have good audio, an audiophile would expect to spend $1,500 to $5,000 on an aftermarket system. It's not going to come from a $300 stock Bose system.

I have yet to hear a Bose system in a Z yet. I have listened to one in a Maxima and it sounded ok, nothing spectacular. I must say the base Clarion in my Enthu is extremely muffled and unclear. Soon to be replaced. So for now, I usually just put the window down and listen to the exhaust notes while running throught the gears

Default Just do it!

The Blose in my 350Z WAS pathetic, it's gone.

The Blose in my Audi S8 WAS pathetic, it's gone.

Stock Premium Sound is a misnomer in my opinion; authentic premium sound usually requires gutting your stock "system" and installing a system that is right for you and one that fits into your budget. Most of us learn this with the experience of our years and the remembrance of the rage we once tolerated.

Believe me, I'm not saying this BS is the right way to treat customers; what I am saying is --- welcome to the real world.

BTW, if your new system were to suck --- that's a big OOPS. Be careful out there because you'd then have no one to blame but yourself.

My $0.02
