Feedback on Eclipse 5 channel amp...
Anyone familiar with or used the Eclipse XA5000? I am trying to cut some of the weight out of my system and condense my two eD amps to a single five channel amp. I am currently using the Nine4 and Nine2X to power a eD 11Ov2 and Polk Audio SR6500 and DB6500. The eD amps put out more power on paper and sound really clean, but I was hoping to both lose some weight and make the install more stealth by moving the single amp to the empty space behind the drivers seat. If anyone can recommend another five channel amp, that would be apprecated, but I would like to keep it under $650.
Thanks,
-Sonny

don't have experience with that particular amp, but every single audio component in my car is Eclipse including 4 channel amp, mono amp, component speakers, coaxials, dvd headunit, and subwoofer. I crank up the sound quite a bit and they are still good (knock on wood). They make quality products and I've had them for a while now and nothing went wrong. Don't know if this helps or not...

The XA line from Eclipse uses a full-range class D technology. It is a technology developed and used by Bang & Olufson in their high-end home audio amplifiers. It is a super efficient technology and sounds great.
I have the XA1000 on my Diamond Audio D610 sub, and I have the XA2000 on my Diamond D661 components. They are very nice amps, easy to tune since all of the controls are on the top and use big adjustments, not those tiny, recessed screws that you can easily strip out. They definitely produce rated power and maybe a hair more. I can crank my system with both amps and my headlights DON'T dim, and I do not have a cap.
I would expect that you will be very happy with the XA5000 if the power ratings suit your needs.

As another option:
Crossfire VR705d -
Technical Specifications
Bridgeable 5 channel amplifier, 50Wx4 RMS @ 4ohms Class A/B with 300Wx1 @ 2ohms Class D sub channel, 700W Max, Variable Crossovers: 50 to 250Hz Highpass for front and rear, 50 to 150Hz lowpass for sub, Nickel plated RCA inputs for all channels, 2/4 CH switch, int/ext sub input switch. All channels 2-ohm stable, Remote port for CFR-3 Subwoofer level control, 5 way protection circuit, MOSFET power supply 9.3"W x 2.1"H x 18.5"L
I had this amp in my Xterra and it kicked some a$$. I got it from my local authorized dealer for $475+tax. It is rated at 12volts, so add about 20% for 14.4volt output. I would have gone with this again in the 350Z, but I was very intrigued by the ICEpower Eclipse amps.

Hey Bing,
Pleasure talking to you about amp options. My install has a huge amp rack with the two eD's in plain view, the install puts the sunlight right on them and out here in the desert they get hot very fast. My goal is to reinstall a single amp in a more discrete location for both weight savings and a cleaner install. At this point I have no hatch space and it has gotten kind of old. I love the power and sound the eD's provide, but want a cleaner solution and install.
