yup, thats what everyones been using.

there is not any more than what the stereo takes up. maybe an inch behind there if you reroute some wires from behind it. no way is there 9 or 10" tho. not if the unit itself is 7".

you can see for yourself if youd like, just pull up the rubber mat of the nav compartment, you will then see 2 screws, take em out and you can remove the front part of that storage, you will see right down onto the stereo, and probably stick a ruler in there.
