not quite...i was very skeptical about them too since my winter car i have a direct connection and read all the bad comments on FM's but I got one for Xmas for the Z since nothing could do a connection on stock and I cant tell you how good it has been where i live.

only a couple times it got fuzzy in this one spot for a lil bit...although i did bring it to FLA few weeks ago and didnt quite have the same results...it was shotty down there

Ok this is probably a stupid question, but I will ask anyway,
Has any one hard wired an external drive to there car?
I think that's what it is called. My friend has a million or so songs on his system at his house. The thing is about the size of an older portable VCR. Maybe like 8 inches deep by 7 inches wide and about three inches tall. It only has music on it, and he has it wired to an older lap top and then to his home stereo. Could this be done? Not that I have the Money or time to do this. I just thought it would be very cool to have that many songs in one place.

Mine holds my lotto tickets and iPod only. I also have switches that you can't see (in the cubby) for use with other features of the AVIC-Z1.

Belkin makes a nice little cup in a cupholder attachment called the TuneDok for around $20. Comes in black or white.
