If you want the best laser jammer, get the AL, LPP, or the soon to be released in the U.S. Laser Interceptor.

My personal tests with an actual police radar and laser supports what I have read elsewhere . . .

8500 was better than V1 and (I have had both units). The only thing the V1 does that the 8500 cant do is give you directional. The 8500 does however do multiple bogey (signal) counts and strengths in advanced mode. The simple fact is the 8500 picked up better range and more angles than the V1 for the radar units Nashville uses. It also did better at picking up reflected laser and that is important because that is the only kind of laser alert that is not an instant ticket.

Its nice to have friends who are police officers.

It sucks to hear of the issues with the 9500 because I really want one.

Quick question, why'd you replace your 8500 x50 with the 9500i if the true-lock system is premature? I'm almost sure that the 9500i did not improve on detection.
<-- had both the X50 and V1 (versions 1.7 and 1.8).

well, that is what I have been waiting for. I kept hearing they were going to incorporate GPS in the detectors for logging speed traps and eliminating false signals. As it stands now, I will wait till all the kinks are worked out.

I have some bands turned off on my 8500 now but when I travel out of area i have to remember to put them back on. I love the features on the 9500 that learns false signals, and the speed feature that turns down sensitivity at slower speeds and increases at higher speeds. It sounds like a really smart system. I hope they get it right in the next revision. It would be a nice upgrade for me.

There are actually numerous resources which say the exact opposite: V1 is better than 8500. 8500 may have slightly better off-axis detection... but not by much in most cases.

www.radardetector.net

www.laserveil.com

I have owned both too by the way.

I use an 8500 and unless the cop is using pop mode or laser you have to be an idiot to get a ticket. When I drive to work (in DFW) 114 or 635 alot of the cops use laser. As long as your baiting some other idiot leading the pack of speeders you can catch a bouncing laser. 15-25 over to work every day and have never received a ticket. However anyone else with one of the Escort models notice the amount of falses around the airport? Its like a laser battle going down in there.

Ok update on my little problem with the radar detector slipping off the bracket. I went to best buy and turned it in for a new one and less than three weeks later this one is doing the same thing. when i hit a big bump or something it clicks and slides right off if i don't grab it and re-seat it. I know someone else has got to be having this problem if I've had two do this now
