Hey all-
I just purchased a 2006 Enthusiast (Redline) and am new to the forum. I just purchased a JVC KD-HDR1 HD Radio/CD Receiver from Crutchfield and it will arrive today.
I have never installed a radio before, but supposedly the crutchfield kit comes with everything I need (wire harness, Double DIN mount, etc).
Is there anything that I should be wary of?
Thanks!
Brendan

Brendan,,,,Congrats on your new car and Headunit set up. Make sure you read the HOW-TO forums here on taking your dash apart. Its not difficult, but it will make it a lot easier. Post pics when you have everything installed.

Thanks, I will take some pics. I found the How-to on taking the dash apart, seems fairly simple, especially with the instructions. Just wanted to make sure that there was not something else that was a common mistake. We will see what happens tonight!

Be aware that the Z has a factory antenna amp that needs to be connected. The instructions don't mention it and most people don't know it has to be connected. You need to connect the blue wire from the radio to the blue wire on the harness.

Could you explain a little more on this? I have everything connected, adn the radio works, but I was getting only OK HD reception (better in some places).
I connected the blue wires briefly, but the explanation was not clear on them, so I disconnected them.
You think this will give better reception for HD?
Thanks!
Brendan

Yes, you need to connect the blue wires,,,,that is the antenna amp. Depending on your location,,,its about the only way you will get radio reception. I missed it also, when I installed my headunit,,,I had to go back and reconnect.....wow, what a difference in radio reception. dont forget to take pics of your install.
