Did you have to cut a hole in the bumper? Got pics?

I've been thinking about drilling a hole in the license plate and putting it behind the license plate. The camera is not weather proof so it might mess it up. Maybe put glass in place of the hole? Don't know.

Does yours get fogged up when it rains or when it's humid?

I don't have anything to add to the discussion, necessarily. I didn't realize car technology was going this way. Cameras? I'm guessing it would work with an aftermarket LCD screen and HU?

right above the license bracket. You have to drill. The video turns on the navigational whenever you put it in reverse. The guy at cartoys in Frisco said he did it for another guy here. So hes getting good at building stereos and stuff for z's.

ewww, I wouldn't want to drill into the Z. Have to say, that area around the plate is pretty hard to get to. I've rip the panels off and theres seem to be seperated by another sheet of metal.

I'm waiting until I have my spoiler installed (Balsarini) as the installers couldn't find a good place to install it near the license plate that they felt confortable with. After passing on an exterior install, they were going to run it from inside the car (you can see the yellow wire for it here in this picture) but they could never get the angle correct to make it "usefull".

The camera (Sony CCD) itself is high resolution, weatherproof, fogproof and has an infinite focal length. It also will not freeze which is important up here in New England. It is not a "reversing image" camera as I did not need that function as my Alpine monitor has a "revesing image" built into it. It's about the size of an AA battery and has a black exterior. Since the car is black, it will look like a small black dot and should not very noticeable when mounted in the spoiler. Here are pictures of a Balsarini "knockoff" (I'm actually getting the real kit from Japan which is due in in about ~3 weeks) but you can get the idea.

You more than likely saw it, but SkiDaZZle (Mike) had his placed in his license plate (it was posted in ~November last year). Can't find the picture right now... That's the only picture I have ever seen on this board of one actually installed.

Edit Found the thread with the picture of the camera from SKidaZZle's InstaLL thread and here's the camera he used (I believe) AEI Components.

anything I should watch out for when doing this?

I too have the Tme650 with auto switch and reverse activation.

Can you select the camera input while driving? I'm making a long road trip and my Z will be filled up to the brim. I need a decent rearview - does this cam work?

also, how about a reputable shop in northern NJ to get this done? any takers?
