Default Midrange and cross-over swapout

Hi everyone,

Audio Gurus:

Would it be sensible to swap both the mid-range and crossover of one brand of speakers with another and KEEP the tweeters mounted as they are? Or even stay with the same brand and do this "upgrade."

I have my tweeters mounted quite well and would not like to move them if possible - Plus I like how they sound, just not crazy about the midrange drivers.

Thanks again.

No problem at all with that. What setup are you running? Also make sure the mids you switch out are the same ohms.

I am currently running a set of Infinity 6010cs - They are fine for now, but I'm looking to upgrade very soon. They are 4ohms and the Kappas I'm looking to replace them with (possibly) are 2ohms; I take it they are incompatible.

Oh and by the way, they are being powered by a ppi pc 4400.2 amplifier - Kinda old, but has never given me any problems and has nice clean power.

Here's a link to their description
