Default New spot to mount radar detector?

Ok so heres the deal. I have a passport 8500, and do not want to go through the hasle of hardwiring just yet.

So I was wondering if one was to mount the radar detector on top of the wall behind the seats (the wall containing speaker enclosure, not rear strut tower brace) would the detector still function properly.

It seems as though it would have a good view of the front and rear windshields from there and it would be right next to the power outlet.

Thank You for your help.

That's a dorky spot for a detector, I doubt that would even work....

Check out this option.

there are a few who have them hanging from the headliner in the center behind the driver, I have also seen at least one on a plexy mount off the rear bulkhead.

Those people seemed to like them but the ones I have seen have all been V1s with remote heads.

QFT I have heard this is the best way to go with a V1 if you want stealth and amazing reception.
