Default For everybody with their amps mounted on the sub box.

For people with their amps mounted on top of their sub box ie: Zenclosures sub box with the amp rack. What do you guys do to keep it more low key and concealed? I hate the fact that if i had my car parked somewhere that my amps are fully exposed, I thought about running tint but i prefer not too. What do the rest of you guys do?

If I had a system in my Z the amps would be hidden! maybe under the seat, or other places! I had many systems stolen in the past in other cars and the "stealth Installation" is best to thrwart would be thieves! just my 2 cents!

My amps are in the compartments behind the seats. I wasn't using the glove box anyway. Even without tint, you can't really see my sub unless you get right up close to the back glass.

I have a JL 500/1 and a 300/4 in a custom rack behind the passenger seat illuminated with blue LEDs. I have been in cars with the Zenclosure and amp mounted to the back of it and it looks like a cheap garage job.

I have tinted windows and both Alpine amps are black, so it's hard to see them.

I have the amp rack with two JL audio amps mounted on it. I use a dark towel to cover up the amps, and take it off anytime I feel like showing them off. Definately doesn't look like a cheap garage job, and is low key when I want it to be.

Displaying your stuff is for exhibitionists and "show" cars.

I keep everything stealth and hidden from view. The way to go is a stock look with great sound and performance/features. Of course if you have a car/system that you display in shows, that won't work.

Here is a great story… and, it’s true.

More than 20 years ago (1985), I installed a subW and its amp in my Saab. SubWs and external amps in cars were fairly new at that time, and they were expensive and a target for thieves. Instead of using washers on the mounting/attachment screws for the amp, I used double-bladed (two-sided) razor blades (the old type, with edges on two sides that you cannot buy anymore). And, someone did try to steal the subW amp by unscrewing the attachments with bare fingers (forefinger and thumb).

You cannot imagine how much blood there was in the car. The police even took pictures. Of course, the subW and its amp were still there after the robbery attempt.

The ironic part of this was an apparent liability on my part for setting a “booby-trap.” The local police did a thorough investigation because my neighbor (the guy whose car was in the stall next to mine) had a handgun stolen from his vehicle.

The “victim” (the thief) never came forward or filed a complaint against me.
