Default Reverse Signal splice location

I just got my Eclipse nav unit and I'm starting to plan the installation. It says i need to splice in to the reverse signal and in the manual it says to do it into the reversing lights. Is there a more convenient place to do this?

Also, its been mentioned that to watch DVD's with the car in motion, you need to ground the e-brake wire. Where do you do this?

Sorry if this has been answered before, I tried searching and I couldn't find anything. It's my first time installing a stereo and I'd like to do it myself and feel a sense of accomplishment. Unfortunately i'm not entirely sure where everything is or how to do things.

Thanks a bunch

i did mine by the driver door toward the hatch but i connected a rear view camera so it turns on when i kick it in reverse.

i remember it being a white wire with a green stripe??? it was earlier in the year. dont count on this 42 year old brain.
