Default Stereo upgrade questions

Hey all.

Well I have upgraded the stock system, but wanting to redo some if it now.

here is what I have now-

Kenwood DDX-6019 6.95" Wide Double-DIN Indash Monitor DVD/WMA/MP3 Receiver

Kenwood eXcelon KAC-X812D 1600 watt mono amplifier

Kenwood eXcelon KAC-X542 960 watt 4/3/2 channel amplifier

JL Audio VR650-CXi 6.5" Coaxail speakers (Pair - Rear)

JL Audio VR650-CSi 6.5" Componet speakers (Pair - Front)

JL Audio 10w6v2 Subwoofers (Pair)

ZEnclosure subwoofer box w/ amplifier rack

Wicked C.A.S. replacement door pods

Tsunami 6 Farrad capacitor.

Here are a few pics of my setup, I have a Sony 4 channel amp in there for now, the "b" channel RCA's are messed up on the Kenwood 4 channel amp and I need to send it in for warranty work.

I am thinking of going with some JL amps and a new box. I am having issues with the subs with these amps. Not as smooth or as powerful as I would like. I originally got these to work with the head unit, the amp control thingy, but doesnt seem to work too well. I am going to do a fiberglass floor in the rear with plexi and neons.

My questions are-

1. What size JL amp(s) would be good for these subs? Should I get two 500w or one 1000w and run the speakers in series. Can you even run these in series? What would the best option be?

2. What would be a good size amp to run the 6.5"s?

3. Should I get this box? I am thinking maybe a custom one tilting the subs outwards a little more, and maybe a little area in the center for a emblem or something.

What else should I do for the system?

My system currently hits, but not super hard like w6v2 should. I would think it would be louder (or capable of being louder), but the amp cuts out with too much power.

I do not know all the ins and outs of car audio, just enough to get it all in there. I might even have it all setup wrong, who knows.

I am getting the car ready for a show in late August. Getting it repainted 2 tone (redline with black top) adding cf hood, cf wing, cf side skirts, cf rear lip, and a INGS+1 nspec style front bumper. Installing black on black Sparco Torinos also.

for the 2 w6v2 get the one JL 1000/1 and for the 6.5 speakers get the JL 300/4

NEVER buy sony audio products.....

i currently have JL XR-650csi and i'm using the JL 300/4......it's worth the money.

with the JL amps they will hit....they're amps are wayy under rated.

goodluck.

edit: your kenwood amp + sony amp= makes me want to cry because your JL's are being wayyy under powered. your speakers have a lot of potential.

this is how your wiring should be.....sorry for the bad drawing but it should be a basic concept on car audio....

the key to have great sound is all about the amplifier....
