From: Where I have yet to cross another Lemans Z!?
I had the door panels off this morning planning out where I was going to run my wires, put Dynamat, etc. and found it ridicules that Nissan put the speakers where they did VS where the grilles / door cut is. Has anyone moved their mids up and to the right some so the speaker and door hole actually do line-up? I need to make spacers for mine and from looking at the pic some of you have posted some of your mids have to be hitting the door at some points of playing. Plus we are losing a decent amount of sound with the mid playing half below and half in the door opening. Has anyone done this yet? Comments, pics, or tips would be great!

really good pic I just found. see how the door covers the bottom part of the mid. at a decent volume or with some nice power the flex of a mid right there I would ssume that it has to hit the door at times???
Yeah, I had a thread on the problems of the front stock speaker and it's speaker alignment. I even used the same picture you used. My installer built this enclosure out of MDF which moved the speaker into the correct alignment (both axis') of the door panel for optimum performance. Unfortunately he didn't keep the dimensions of the enclosure (open in the back). Also, if you can replace the grills (not an easy task according to two installers that have installed a lot of front speakers in this car) you will be a lot better off. Here's the picture. Good luck.
I enlarged the picture of the enclosure a little bit. You can also see that the top of the speaker "sticks" out further than the bottom of the speaker. This is to compensate for the door panel "bending out" the further you go up the door.
I just recently moved my woofers up and over to get them from not hitting the door during full excursion (yes they hit the door panels). Instead of making new covers, I drilled out the holes that weren't open from Nissan.
The difference is 10 fold in both output quality and less door panel vibration.
