Default My different LCD-install..

What do you think of this solution? It's a 6.5" Sony XMV-H65 LCD-monitor. To be driven by my new DVD-stereo (just waiting for the adapter between the stereo and the bose sound system).

I drilled a hole through the plastic panel below and screwed it together and put a darker matt behind it as a wall...

Not as nice as putting the screen inside the compartment maybe, but I wasn't able to keep the lid if I did that... and when taking off the lid completely it left a kind of a large gap that had to be filled.

Yeah that's my thought as well... easy for a thief to steal it. But the screen cannot be installed with the lid still on. It would not be able to close anyways...

+1.. sell the screen and do it the way everyone else here has done, i.e., Farenheit, LZ702W.. these are great OEM looking setups and most importantly "stealth"..

hack apart the cubby and mount it behind?

can't tell the size and aspect ratio of the screen but you may be able to mount it behind if you disassemble the lcd casing...

Looks like its just sitting there. Put a lil more effort into the craftmanship and I'm sure you could get it to look good. Good luck..

I'm a little concerned with hacking up the LCD as the on off button and other buttons on the front of it won't work anymore (such as the on off button would probably be difficult to take use of. I don't want the LCD on all the time either).

I'm waiting for the adapter / converter so that I can install the stereo. Once it's here I'll atleast take the LCD apart and take measurements to see whether it will be possible to mount somehow flush with the cubby wall / sides.

I could probably do it, but then I'd be left with a non functional cubby door that will be in an open position all the time ... and THAT is fugly in my opinion.

But yeah, this in itself (on photo) probably is a little fugly too. But it doesn't look all that bad really (atleast not IRL).
