Default Subwoofer Box Size

I just bought a 12" subwoofer with a ported box and was wondering if it will fit in my Z coupe. The dimensions of the box are 16.6" height and 19" width. Its wedged. Will this be able to fit in the trunk at all or do i have a return on my hands? Please help

Not trying to be a jacka$$, but can't you just drop it in and see if it fits?

Why didn't you just get a ZEnclosure? We all know they fit perfectly...

Do you want to retain your spare?

I was thinkin' about that, but if I put it where the spare is won't I have to worry about things in my trunk smashing my sub?

Ahhh, OK, I was hoping there was a good reason you couldn't try to fit it yourself.

It's hard to tell even with dimensions of the box becasue the box is most likely square and the hatch area is rounded and mis-shapen. Zenclosures sells a box or two that house a 12" sub. I'm not saying the one you bought WON'T fit, it very well might fit in some way.

I think you need to clarify what you are looking for. Do you want to use specifically the box you're looking at or are you trying to figure out "any way at all to fit a single 12" into the Z other than a custom fiberglass enclosure?"

Then, let us know if you want to retain your spare. A grill over your sub will prevent it from being damaged from things smashing into it.

His first post sounds like he bought the box already and wants to know if it will fit........

No actually I just bought the sub. Sorry for the misunderstanding. It's too much of a hassle so I guess i'll just return it and get a setup with 10" subs. Thx for all the help guys. And Dave079......wow.

the 12" will fit just as long you have the right sized box for it. Why don't you just get the Zenclosure? They make one for a single 12" and you just put it in the cubby area, everyone that bought it said they're a perfect fit. You'd still have most of your trunk area left, and be able to keep the spare.

I have the Zenclosures 12 box. It fits perfectly into the trunk. As far as trunk space, you have a small area right behind the seat.

Where did you get that box?

I was checking out they're site on ebay:
http://stores.ebay.com/ZEnclosures_3...QQftidZ2QQtZkm

and they closest thing I could find was a box for 2 12"s, or 1 10".. I didn't see a single 12" box on there.

It looks identical to the box with the 2 12's. You can ask them to make an opening for a single 12". They centered the opening for the sub and put 1 port on each side. Very cleanly done but I'm looking into getting an under-strut box for 2 10"s, I never knew until now how nice it is to have a functional trunk.
