Pioneer/Alpine installation (rather large pics)
After months of searching, calling, asking questions, and getting estimates I finally had a budget audio system installed to replace my factory Bose system. The great, and unusual thing is that the place that I chose happened to be owned by a couple of guys (two brothers) that I went to high school with (we graduated in 75). I haven't seen these guys in over 30 years but when I found out they were the owners I went into the home theater side of their store and reintroduced myself. Only one of them was there and we spend a good hour doing some catching up. Anyway, when he found out why I was there, he gave me a HUGE price break on the installation labor cost. Here are a few pictures I took:
Alpine amps going into the glove box behind the passenger seat:

I had them Dynamat the doors and the sub area:

The Pioneer head unit:

The Pioneer head unit part 2:

I went with Alpine Type R speakers in both the front and rear with an Alpine Type S sub in to original sub area (they built a down firing enclosure). I have had the car back for about a week and am relatively happy with the sound, however I am still getting used to the Pioneer deck. Operationally it is not real intuitive so certain functions I have to refer to the manual. The speakers may be a bit too "gentle" for me. I will live with them for a while and then swap them out with some more aggressive. All in all, for what I ended up paying, I am very satisfied.
