Default I want something like this.

I think I've seen something similiar with a Cadillac Deville nightvision a few years back.

http://www.mvis.com/prod_auto_hud.htm

It would great for Navigation and information....would be awesome to have in radar technology too to point out the bacon.

They said a European automaker is testing it out and we might see something in a car at a car show later this year.

Mercedes?, BMW?

didnt pontiac have a HUD for the GTP a while back?

seems like it would be super easy to get it to show extra information besides the speed/rpm like i remember the pontiac unit doing.

If it were projected on the windshield I think it would look cool, the display on the above url looked like something off the Pep Boy shelves.

that would be hard, cause you would get a double image cause the windshield is 2 layers (glass and shatterproof film) The corvette's has a HUD, shows speed and stuff. They have a special windshield to do this.

The product is in development. BMW is the company looking at doing this. I don't think it's gonna look like that picture (at least I hope not). The company does work for the military so I think they know what they are doing. I think I read they were trying to get these in the 2006 model vehicles to be sold in 2005, so it's gonna be a while before we see it in mass.

GTPs do have this, so do corvettes, it is different than what lincoln or whoever uses with their "night vision" tho works on the same princible.

I know atleast in the GTP, it looks like a digital watch display with the 7 bars used to make numbers, along with a few test lines that are preset, not like an active matrix capable of any shape.

windsheilds require a special reflective coating, which means $$$$$$. a tree branch feel on my sisters car, I think it was around 6-700$ to have the windsheild replaced because of the coating.

its nice. dont think radar detectors know where the cop is so specificly that they could point out the cop... they are barely able to tell a general direction of front side or back.
