Default Install Teaser...Custom box etc...

Well, I've finally started putting it all into the car. I spent quite some time building a custom box for my 2 8W7s. I wanted it to fit behind the strut bar, but not under it...as I put my acoustic guitar in the Z quite often, and it needs some area under the strut bar.

Anyways, I'm really happy with how the box came out. It was the hardest box I have ever built because of all the angles on it. The front and rear and angled out, and both sides and the top are angled as well. It made for some hard times making the cuts...as I should have used CAD to plan this out. Oh well...next time. It is small enough to slide in as a whole unit(minus the amps and cap)...so anyways...here are a couple pictures. They are crappy cell phone pics...but will do until I get it fully installed....

well...the 'amp rack' is just the amps mounted to the box I cheated!! I had to make the box kinda big since those are W7s...and they love their airspace! Anyways...I would NEVER make another one of these boxes without using CAD to draw it up first. It was ENTIRELY too much work. I probably have about 30 hours of work in that box...which is just crazy.

Anyways...thanks!! I am hoping to get it all finished up this afternoon/night and will take better pics once it's all done!

yep, that would make sense, especially if mounted behind the strut and all like that. i just don't like mounting my stuff out in the open, just my personal pref, i guess..

anyways, looking good and probably sounding even better, i'm sure!

well, I finished it up last night...i know that some of hte wires need to be routed a lil better...but it was late, and it was close enough for now I'm happy with how it sounds. I'm not even using the 300/4 yet...but the stock Bose speakers don't sound half bad if you filter out the low frequency signals to them...

how do the 2 8w7's sound? do they still hit loud and hard? I debated for month's on doing the 2 8w7's or one 10w7 and eventually went with the 10w7.

They sound great to me...I haven't fully tweaked the system yet...so they aren't hitting as hard as they could...it was LATE last night when I finished(which is why all the crap is still in my front passenger seat )...

anyways...I was more interested in keeping a tight punchy bass over the extreme rumble...so 2 8's was the way for me to go...plus, I got a GREAT DEAL on them from a fellow forum member...THANKS!!

Anyways, so far I'm very satisfied...and am very glad that I went with the limited edition Black JL amps to match...I'm thinking of painting the cap to match the car as well...but we'll see

how do you like your 10? pretty happy with it? What do you have driving it?
