Default Dvd/navi 06 z opinion

im looking for a pretty up to date system for my 06. I saw the d3 and it looks like a good clean install. Ive some people complain about the navi. Also does anyone know if it will work with the iphone. What are other comparable systems that fit nicely in the 06 z? thanks

I haven't seen any car feedback on the iPhone yet. As far as navi units go, scroll around in this forum, there's more than enough information here to answer your questions.

I just had the AVIC-D3 installed over the weekend. No bluetooth module yet though. As far as playing music through the ipod adaptor, there are no real issues. The iphone may give you a warning that the device isn't compatible and ask if you want to turn airplane mode on. Everything works fine with airplane mode turned off, so you can still receive phone calls. The D3 may act up if you disconnect the iphone while you're listening to music.

From what I've read at avic411.com, bluetooth works just fine although you can't transfer your address book to the D3. Its an apple issue though and not the D3.

I didn't do the install myself, but I believe you only need the dash kit. The only hole you might have to drill is for the ipod cable, but it all depends on where you want your ipod. Mine sits in the compartment right above the radio which required a hole.

I'm sure they could be installed in-dash, so I would definitely go with Garmin. They make the best gps units, period. Check their website and you can compare all the different models side-by-side.

I'm very happy with my Eclipse Nav/DVD/CD/Bluetooth HU. The nav is not quite as friendly as Garmin, but it is fine once you get used to it.
