stock audio upgrade questions.
well this really sucks... the kappas don't fit in the rear, they stick out too far and the plastic cover doesn't fit back over the speakers, i haven't tried the door locations yet but does anyone know if there is more room in front of the speakers in the doors or if i should just return the one unopened box of speakers i have and get different ones? I had to modify the mounting brackets for the rear speakers so there is definitely no way they will let me return them but if they will fit in the doors then i don't have to worry about it.

So, my question has been this: What speakers will fit? I'm looking for fronts, rears (but I hear a common suggestion is leave them stock and turn them off), and a sub. I've got the factory Blose sub in there now, and it's not good enough for me.
I don't trust Crutchfield's speaker configurator, because I suspect that it only checks the circumferencial measurement of the speakers, and not the depth or other dimensions, which may lead to install issues. If I am wrong, and I can check crutchfield, then please tell me. My PM box is ready, willing, and able to accept your msg.
And, on the subject of budget... I'm a firm believer that you can get ANYTHING for half of what you'd pay for it at a retail store. I worked at BestBuy for 4 years, and some of you would be SICK at how much we raped the customers on prices. I bought a $2000 head unit (AVIC-N2), and paid $980 on employee price. I saved more on that item that I made in a month. After I quit and moved on to a real job, I got my AVIC-D3 through an employee, and paid $600 instead of the $1200 BB wanted for it.
So, when people say "up your budget" I say "broaden your search." There are all kinds of places to order the same stuff you'd get at Crutchfield or BestBuy for a fraction of the price.

Okay, well if you're on a budget, eBay will be your friend...
