Default audio help w/front components & sub:gurus??

i just purchased a jl 500/5 amp and looking to get the new pioneer 9800bt head unit. rear replacements are mb quarts rwe 160s.
my goals for a system is light weight and clean sound with a stealth set up. this is my weekend racer.
i am planning to use 1/2" mdf for amp and 3/4" mdf for box build. i will be removing the spare tire and probably gonna try and stay away from fiberglass.

--for the fronts i was thinking 2 way components w/nazars pods, but wat speakers will be well suited for my amp, and not soooo pricey.($100-$200)

--for the sub... i'm thinking single 10". but wat will be lightweight and well suited for the jl 500/5, and be able to fit in small enclosures. there is not much space in the spare tire wheel well. i want to retain as much of the trunk for storage as possible, so gonna go for stock floor height, maybe a bit higher, if need be. would any of the JL subs be possible? -was also thinking about $200 if possible for the sub.

thanks guys.

Since you already are set on the amp, you know what power you have to work with. Choose speakers that will work with what power you have.
For the fronts, choose a speaker that takes 100 watts RMS per speaker.
For the rears 25 watts per speaker (I would say an entry level co-ax).

Since the amp puts out 250 Watts RMS for the sub; your kinda limited to a single sub, but a decent sub that will handle that power. One Dual voice coil 4ohm sub wired to show the amp 2 ohms should fit the bill.

A Pioneer shallow mount TS-SW2541D sub would allow you to use a C-type enclosure from Zenclosures. I dont know how much the sub weighs but you can use it with an smaller enclosure because it only needs .35 ~ 0.7 Cubic Feet of airspace (C-type enclosure has .43 Cubic feet)

That enclosure has to weigh less than an "understrut" design

I'm sure there are alot of subs that would work well in that enclosure as well Elemental Designs subs would also be a good choice

from what I remember on calculating air space,,,(please dont flame me,,it has been awhile),,,but you get your measurments by measuring the width,,,,,height,,,,,depth,,,,then subtract the thickness of the wood for each measurment,, once you have those figures,,,,you multiply each number together,,,example:W x H x D, the number you get from that multiplication,,,you divide by 1728 ...there are many ways to determine air space,,,,To me, this is the most simple and accurate...

I hope this helps.

I did mine the old fashioned way. Knowing how big one cubic foot is i took a box of known size and filled it with packing peanuts, i then put those in a plastic bag and threw it into the corner of my car and taped off how big it needed ot be. Of course i was making it out of fiberglass so that's a bit different since i wouldn't have straight lines.

I used water to test my fiberglass box for leaks and sizing. It was about 4 gallons so a little over .5ft^3

I'm using an eD 11Ov.2

If you want light weight use Fiberglass, that 3/4" MDF is going to weight you down more. My sub box is all fiberglass with one small spot of 3/4MDF in the corner of my trunk housing a alpine Type-X 10
