which amp and subwoofers to get for the Z?
personally i love the w6v2 by jl. Its got pretty good SQ and good SPL at the same time. Price is not too bad. If you match it with a JL amp it can get pricey though. Also look into image dynamics great gear there too. what are your goals good sound or just basssss.

What is your budget?? As far as all the JL audio reccomendations go, I went with something else just because everyone else already has JL. True they make solid products, but I wanted to be different. I didnt want to have what mr and miss Jones put in their Z's...
Anyway, the main thing is your budget. Some websites to check out are...
www.onlinecarstereo.com
www.sonicelectronix.com
www.crutchfield.com useful for finding out what fits your vehicle, but not always the cheapest
or you can always just google [I]car audio[I] Good luck, and keep us posted on what you do decide with and the insatll pics

You should pick and amp that matches the RMS of the sub you want. Pick a sub that your amp's RMS falls either halfway or towards the top limit of the RMS handling. A little over is o.k. too but underpowering a sub is not going to sound good.
I recommend Image Dynamics as far as the sub goes. Great quality and sound. wooofersetc.com has everything you need. Good luck

I usually run my 10s at pretty low volume now..I've heard 1 10" elemental design sub (in UMZZZ's car) and it was plenty loud and crisp.

ok..i'm going to take a stab at explaining impedance to you...
it doesn't matter whether your amp is 2-channel or 1-channel when you're running subwoofers. A two channel amp can be bridged into 1-channel. And, 2 subs can wired accordingly to be 1-channel, so in effect the amp would be acting like its outputting to one sub instead of two.
the key to picking the amp/sub combo is matching the impedances. Every sub has an impedance (most commonly 2ohms or 4 ohms), and having multiple subs (or dual-voice coil subs) mean they can be wired to have a different total impedance.
I'm not sure if I'm getting over the top for you, but an example of how this works would be...if you wanted to get 2 4ohm subs. Then, when those two are wired into one channel, the total impedance would be 2 ohms or 8 ohms (8 ohms is useless, so u would go with 2 ohms). That means you want an amp that has the desired power at 2 ohms. So if you wanted 500 watts, then you would look for an amp that is 500x1 @ 2 ohms.
If you don't understand this concept, just post your potential setup, and let ppl in the forum tell you if they are compatible.

Sonicelectronix.com is selling leftover 05 Comp VRs for like half off. $55 for a 10" with full manufacturers warranty is a pretty good deal. Also, Alpine Type-R is one of my favorite woofers.
If someone is looking for cheap, JL shouldn't be uttered...period. JL makes fine product, but all of their products are a price range above where they should be, meaning for the same price, you could get much better equipment elsewhere
I agree with this recommendation...For a short time Image Dynamics sold a clone of this woofer called the OEM 10 ID. I am feeding it 600 watts and it is clean, crisp, and loud.
Their lower range products are nothing to brag about, and their top-of-the-line stuff is too expensive since being bought out by USAmps
