navigation wire broken
Does anyone know where i can get a ribbon or have one made. The 8" white wire ribbon ( like a old computer connector) that connects the navigation motorized door to the circuit board attached to the gauge cluster. Local dealerships are telling me they do not sell it separately and that I need to buy the entire door and cluster... at a tune of $350.00. Any help would be much appreciated..... thanks Ed

did it just break or what? If you really wanted to, you could always split the ribbon into its separate wires and crimp/solder the two pieces together. since it's a lot of different connections i'd suggest the soldering.
then again, i dont know exactly what the ribbon looks like so this may not be an option. just a thought.

I am not to sure about soldiering this, but if I got to spend 300.00 I will try or find someone who can.. the blue end is actually a pad that has exposed connectors kind of like a cellphone batter( their flat)...
I am going to call around to junkyards tomorrow.

Ok, it's a different ribbon cable than the kind I was thinking. Most laptops use these kind of ribbon cables to connect things like mice, buttons, keyboards, etc to the motherboard.
You really need to get a replacement. The junkyard is going to be the best bet. I would see if I could find the part number for the ribbon cable itself and look it up somewhere. Perhaps a parts vendor can help you also. Good luck.
