Default component part of my system.

Ok guys im ready for my next step got my z2 installed. Got a 10w6 jl running off a 500/1 jl in a z enclosure box. Now its time to talk about components. I listened to some diamond audios today and they sounded great he didnt have the crossovers hooked up or a sub so too much midbass distorted them so i couldnt hear their full potential. I was however very impressed with them. Im between diamond, focal's, cdt's, and rainbows, and DLS. Its hard for me to compare because i cant listen to some theres not many places in okc with 500 dollar components that you can blast. Component price range i dont wanna go over 500 for speakers. Amp would like to stay around 3. Let me know your input on these or another if you think it could outperform. I want a speaker amp combo that will scream and sound very clear at the same time. I know this topic has been discussed but as much as audio changes i dont think its that big of a deal to ask for more opinions. Also ill be getting pods or custom kicks. Which do you think is better?
Also would 2 way or 3 be better in the Z? thanks again.

Bing (16psibrick) can probably get you a package with DLS amp/comps/kick panels.

I own Diamond D661s components and love them. They are some of the more dynamic components I've owned to date (16 years involved in car audio). And they aren't overly expensive. I also like Focals and DLS. It really is a personal choice IF you can get the chance to listen to everything.

I personally would love to see a system in the Z (and I may talk to Bing myself about making kicks/pods for me) using Diamond's D971 set with the 7" woofer. I had a chance to hear these in a demo vehicle (Yukon), and they were phenomenal.

yeah i talked to bing a month or so agao about some iridiums in custom kicks. But i just think they are gonna be a little out of my price range. I wish we had a audio dealer with all of them in stock so i could hear them all simultamiously lol. only ones of the ones i posted i could find to hear were the diamonds.

if iridiums are out of your price range, there is always the UR and the UX26 at about 200 bucks and e300 bucks less

i do offer a gurantee, if you get them and you dont think they sound good and much better than stock locations, then i will offer you a full refund on them AND pay for the purchase of a new set of stock kicks.

i have yet to have anyone do it out of hte 30 or so pairs of kicks i have built and shipped off

Now THAT is some serious confidence in the equipment one sells!!!!

DLS is one of those speaker companies that is hard to NOT be impressed with.

Man i drove to tulsa today after school wanted to go on a trip in the Z and stopped at boomers up there a audio dealer. They had mbquarts pvf 216 in their demo room. He also had a 800 dollar pair of dynaudio in there too. The dyna's were a little bit clearer. But the quarts just flat out rocked. I loved the way they sounded. Im not sure if dls is the speaker for me now. they say dls is more warm and clear like the dyna's but these quarts were really clear too and also screamed and sounded awesome at the same time. Had same amp and everything on the speakers. Man im in a dillema.

This is the exact reason it's hard to tell someone what components to get. It is such a personal choice. Nothing wrong with Quarts. If you dig 'em, then go for it.

I have Quarts and Dynaudio, the Quarts are not great to listen to after a while, fatigue of the ears sets in at anything above low volume. I think it is the tweeter they use, "bright" and "harsh" are used to describe the sound after a while.

remember what i said bro:

1. detailed and crisp speakres on the sound board will usually blow your ears off in a car, and cause listening fatigue really fast.

2. something a bit dull and almost lacking in detail on the sound board will REALLY shine in the car and sound great

also keep in mind that dyns are someof hte most inefficent speakres around, meaning they want more power to sound good, so say the guy had a 2x100 watt amp powering the mbqs, and then switch it over to the dyns, it will no longer be driving the epaker to the best of its potential...

i think you have pretty experienced exactly that...there is abolsutely no way IMO MBQs, espeically current generation, can hold a candle to dyns in terms of SQ...no way no how...

are these people that like the sound of MBQs in cars? of course, but in my experience of installing hundreds of cars and talking to thousands of customers, listening fatigue is something that most peopel get annoyed at over time...and one reason i have been able to sell DLS to almost all my customers, when virtually NON of them have ever had a clue what DLS is, is that their sound is VERY good on the ears, warm, smooth, natural yet detailed at the same time...one quick listen in my car usually convinces everyone

im sending funds tomorrow to order my dls iridiums in built kicks from 16psibrick for my car. And a dls amp. Ive honestly never met such a stand up guy when it comes to internet audio sales. He has gone above and beyond what i could ask for in explaining car audio and comparing other brands. He sells mostly dls and has even givin praise to numerous other brands not just strictly trying to sell only his product. All i have to say is if any of you need some great deals on anything dls or custom work then 16psibrick aka bing is the man for the job. If i send him a pm with a question he gets back to me within 20 minutes or so. Cant wait to get them and finally have my system complete.
