Default Audio noob

I've been contemplating getting an aftermarket deck for the Z, and I've looked in places such as BestBuy and Fry's Electronics but couldn't find something I really liked. I guess I'm not sure what to look for, but I definitely want it to be an MP3-compatible deck, with a 1/8 jack input. Also I saw some decks have the USB inputs and I thought that was kinda useful also. If you guys know of some good quality and good looking decks for under $300 please post up. I've tried to search, but nothing really fruitful comes up. Thanks alot!

Have a look a crutchfield.com and use their "what fits" to get you started on what actually fits inside the 350Z (most). From there you click and narrow your choices down from hundreds and hundreds of available decks. Otherwise you're likely to get 300-400 here's what I got posts only wildly guessing at what features outside the three you mentioned you want.

Thank you for the website - crutchfield definitely has a bigger selection than any other place I've looked. Here's a unit I'm looking at: http://www.crutchfield.com/S-WaC5lsy...0&I=130DEHP590
I don't know what's good or what's not in terms of quality, but it looks like a decent unit and has pretty good reviews. What do you guys think of it?

Ended up going with the Alpine 9885. Thanks for all your help guys! I did order it from Crutchfield even though many places had it cheaper. Crutchfield had free shipping and they included the install harness. I'm assuming that what they include is all I'll need for the install? I've never installed a HU myself before, and I'm very paranoid about screwing something up...

If you don't have the Bose system you're golden ... if you do have the Bose system you've got a whole lot of work to do by-passing the tiny amplifiers. Ideally you should solder each connection - power (+/-, and accessory), and each of the four speaker outputs. The antenna needs to be plugged in. I'm not sure if the base model stereo comes with the RF amplifier which will need power.

One more question for you guys: If I wanted to wire-in a 1/8 jack for audio input into the Alpine unit, how difficult would it be?

The base model radio does have the antenna amplifier, so when connecting the harness for the Alpine to the adapter harness, go ahead an hook up the "power antenna" lead as well so your antenna amplifier can get power.

No it did not, I'm figuring I'd need something like a Y-cable from RadioShack, with RCA's on one and and the 1/8 in jack on the other...

By trim kit, I meant the plastic frame that goes around your new head unit to fill the gaps after you take out your OEM unit. Crutchfield will have this.

If he bought it from Crutchfield, and specified what kind of car he has, they should've included it. Every HU I've ever bought from them, they did.

Regards.
