AVIC-D3 troubleshooting
Hey all,
I have an '07 z with the bose system - friday night I got the Pioneer Avic-d3 installed.
Everything seemed to be running correctly and looked great - but it sounded like sh*t!
Personally, I have been content with the stock system.
But after the install it got about half as loud and sounded extremely grainy and distorted.
So I am taking it back in Sunday to have them fix it - But I would like a little background knowledge on what the problem may be. So what do you all think went wrong and what should be fixed?
Thank you!

I'm not very knowledgeable on the audio stuff, but I know for the Bose systems you have to rewire a lot of the speakers. I think the Bose has preamps or something. Hopefully some more knowledgeable members can help.

you might need to get the PAC ROEM-NIS2. its used when installing an aftermarket deck and keeping the bose amp and speakers. i used one when i installed my deck in my 07 Touring.

stock amp
In order to use the stock amp you need an extra piece like the PAC ROEM-NIS2.
The stock amp and Speakers have proprietary impedance and output power it will not work properly with an after market equipment.
Is a good idea to replace the amp and speaker to actually get a nice juice out of that head unit. you can stay under budget and still get a nice system.

Follow up
Hey all,
Thanks for your advice.
So to follow up - Turns out I had that adapter already installed when it was sounding so sh*tty.
They took the adapter out and it sounded great!
The volume exceeds expectations, I'm still missing a little bit of clarity that i had with the Bose h/u but it sound 500x better than the first install.
Not sure why the adaptor was causing such an issue *shrugs*
Thanks again!
