Ok my turn.

First 100% agree return the Dual product. It is known for being second tier and usually made up of the the crappy production parts. Reliability is a serious problem.

Second, it's cool you don't need nav, you can easily pick up a decent double din indash for less than the Avic-D3, just do a little research. Best Buy and Circuit City are a good place to start, but don't limit yourself to just them. But seriously, at an even grand, the D3 is a great deal.

Next, with 3g's you should have no problem finding a very decent setup with the dd video HU you want, two amps, subs and door speakers, especially at ciruit city or best buy. The best speakers at those stores are probably the ones that cost the most (not being smart, but generally it's true at least at those stores). However if you can find a nice custom shop or a smaller electronics chain like Tweeter for example, I would get a set of lower end MB Quarts instead of polk or infinity reference components. Oh and you should get components. Money being not an issue, like you said, I would get higher end MB quarts and you can thank me later!

The post about returning the Dual, wasn't entirely useless, he at least gave his oppinion. But some substance would have helped a little more like some others and myself did. With a 3k budget and saying things like cost isn't an issue, I think it is pretty silly to go with a second rate manufacturer like Dual, especially considering the rest of the system (alpine amps) are much higher quality and perform way better.

Here is what I found on CC really quickly. Both less than the D3 and both better than Dual. I would still go with the D3 for 1000 and not use the nav before I went with either of these. But if it were my last $700, I would buy a lifetime supply of freezy pops before I picked up a dual (from experience).

JVC 7" In-Dash DVD Player (KWAVX800) $700 (actually not a bad deal here)
Panasonic 7" In-Dash DVD Player (CQVD6505U) $900
