Default Viper 5900 Alarm/ Remote Start System

Does anyone have this installed in their Z? I plan on getting it installed within the week given that there are no compatibility issues.

Ive tried searching but all the threads are just for peoples opinions on these things. Im assuming because everyones asking about it, it should work fine.

Anyone know? Thanks

I've installed about 10 of these in the last few months including 2 Z's for a full alarm and RS system, it's basically a 791xv with an updated longer range. You should have no problems with it.

I have this alarm for my auto Z. I saw u have manual that mite be an issue finding someone to do the install. The alarm works perfect no glitches etc. The remote start range is by far the best ive seen. Be careful with the LCD screen scratches very easily.

I got and it is great. The trunk still pops open, but the windows don't go down aymore with the remote. They were however able to program the windows to automatically go up when armed. Range is great not necessarily far but what I like is I can be inside a building and it will still connect. I got a manual and so far havent found anyone to install the remote start. Hope this helps.

I installed the 5900 myself on a 2007 350z, pretty simple if you have the tools. I would not recommend doing this yourself too many dam wires to connect. Plus I thought I could simplify the install by using Nissan Data Bus interfaces. They did not work, so be prepared to run wires to the doors. Remote start requires a key to be left in the car. The windows up and down feature should work with programming a pulse delay. Alarm is sweet, get the motion sensor as well. pretty much cant walk by the car without it giving a warning chirp. Range is decent in open space, but falls of rapidly when within a large building.

I have negative trigger @ BCM, in DRIVERS KICK PANEL, Pin 30 or Pin 76. Did you try there?

Thanks for all the replies.

I got mine installed yesterday and almost everything is working fine. Unlock, lock, open windows, close windows, trunk pop, are all working fine. However, my installer said he had a hard time finding, what i believe he referred to as, a 2nd starter cable? Because of this my remote start doesnt work yet. He said when he hooked the remote start part up the car would start for a very brief period and just die. He's going to take another look at it wednesday but does anyone have any advice for this situation?

there isnt a 2nd starter wire..or well wasnt on my 06....i live with 2 guys that work at best buy and one does the installs in the bay... but make sure ur neutral switch is on....the clutch and brake are wired correctly...you SHOULD be able to start the car now without pressing the clutch..(make sure ur in neutral!) btw is the relay even clicking when you mash the star 2 times?

I work at BBY and i had one of the guys from the install bay install mine. the clutch and brake are wired correctly and he installed some clutch bypass system anyway. the relay is not clicking now because he completely disconnected the remote start from the starter until he takes another look at it wednesday. He did say that it started for a second or so and then would just cut out...

How do you connect the remote start if there is not 2nd starter wire?

he said dont worry about the 2nd wire..just DONT hook it to anything...so you need to check your neutral sense..make sure its on the right position...the flip switch that is...check your brake wire, make sure its NOT seeing any positive voltage...he said something else too...check those and if that dont work, do make sure the relay is clicking! also make sure your clutch bypass is working... you did buy the extra box for the remote start to put your spare key in right?

our cars have a nuetral safety wire that you need to tap into at the ecu in the passenger underdash. this wire will make it so that if you accidently leave your car in gear it will not be aloud to remote start potentually running into something.. everything else should be very straight forward though.. and as far as the clutch i recomment using a relay that only activates when the car is remote started so that you still have to press the clutch to start with key but not when remote started. i installed mine myself (im the lead installer at a best buy as well) it took me about 2 and a half days to do it but i have so much stuff hooked up to it that its rediculous and i really really took my time to make it perfect..

where exactly would he be able to find the wire at the ecu? is it a certain color? would he know what to hook up to it? i want to find out all i can before i take my car back to him tomorrow so i can give him alot of advice and tips. and i would love some kind of safety measure so that it cant start in gear.

im sure he put that relay in because i cant start my car without pressing the clutch right now.

also, what other stuff did you hook up to yours? i can make my windows go up and down on command and the hatch pop on command as well... is there more that can be done!

thanks for all the help!!!

The 5900 is excellent. It's efficient, and responsive. It's nothing crazy as far as looks are concerned, but it gets the job done. It's also got great range. I've got a 7900 in my Z, which is the one with the color LCD screen. Unfortunately, it's less than satisfying. Based on experience, all of the other two-way remotes I've dealt with are better. ( Prestige APS997, Compustar 2W9000, Viper 5900 ). Yeah, the color screen is cool... For a couple days, but then the insufficient range and annoying communication delay puts that to an end. I'll be swapping it out for one of the newer models coming out from Prestige, that has a two mile range.
