Question after install
So I took my car to Car Toyz 2, a popular, widely respected custom shop here in MD. They installed my HU, amp, and sub. It sounds great, however one issue after the install. Upon leaving the shop tonight I notice that the check engine light is on, and the temp. gauge is not working, there is power to the gauge and all the other gauges and options [fuel, miles till empty etc.] are functioning, however the temp. just shows dashes. I asked the shop about it and they told me the check engine light has nothing to do with the work they have done, and they are not sure what happened to the temp. gauge. Could something they have done caused this to happen? If not what is up, any ideas?
Thanks a lot.

Sounds like they tapped into your guage wires or possibly cut or pinched a wire. Maybe when they put the dash back together they got a wire stuck in between a panel or something. If you took it to them without the light and without the guage messing up, then they need to solve the problem, or pay to have it solved.
Well crap... They certainly messed up the something in the instrument cluster (probably a bad ground). I think the “Check Engine” light is coming from the ECU, so they f’d that as well.
Hopefully you will get a few more responses on this/your thread providing more information from people who know more than I do. That way you have some ammo (by copying/printing the thread) you can show to the installer.
You may need to take the car to a Nissan dealership where they can run the appropriate diagnostics. If the installer is unable to fix the problems they created, they should pay the fee your dealership charges to restore the car’s functions.
