X-Over questions?
For those of you that have the option to either X-over at your H/U or at your components (speakers, amps, etc.), which do you use? Do you run full range to your components and let the X-over of the component do the work, or do you X-over at the headunit and leave the compnents full range, or do you X-over both?
Which is best?
Which is best?
I just set the crossover on the headunit in my truck because I was too lazy to have to keep going in the back over and over when I was tuning it, plus, setting the HPF on the headunit saves it from trying to power bass into my crappy 6.5" door speakers.
Usually, I would use the passive crossovers that came with the components just cuz passives usually have less noise (and with the components I choose, usually are higher quality x-overs) than electronic ones. Then again, in a car, there's noise everywhere. So it's up to you. I just like high quality sound. If I was to set a high pass on the crossovers, I'd either use the amp or buy a nice 3 way cross-over. This is if I was to compete. Usually, I wouldn't need a high pass crossover. Just a low pass for the subs.
