Default Standard Sat Nav speed sensor wire?

Hi,

I am installing my new Kenwood Sat Nav unit and I need to tap into the speed sensor signal wire.

My car had sat nav fitted as standard, so I am hoping that a speed signal wire was routed back to where the original disc drive would have been. Does anyone know if this is true? If so, please direct me as to which wire it would be. A wiring diagram for the standard sat nav would be great.

If the speed signal wire is not routed back to where the disc drive originally was, then where else can I find this wire to tap into?

Pics of the original sat nav plug are below:

One last thing, do you guys think it's possible to use the standard GPS sensor wire? The original wire fits into the Kenwood nav box perfectly as shown below, but there is also a similar wire in a double connector, so I want to make sure I have the correct one:

I'm not sure if it's up there, as my Z doesn't have OEM NAV, but I tapped the Vehicle Speed Sense wire on the back of the white universal control box in the bottom of the center console.

When you open it up, look at the back of the white control box. There are 2 grey connectors there. On the larger one, it's the solid white wire. GL.

dmroberson, thanks for the info. After reading through some other threads on here I guess that the speed sensor wire is only up at the control box so I will tap into it from there.

I also need to tap into the reverse light wire (not sure why!) any ideas where to find that (apart from at the reverse light itself!)?

Thanks,

Jon

I believe the speed sensor wire is in the box where the AC controls are. I know its a white wire... let me see if I can find the thread.

The reverse light wire is only necessary if you have a backup camera. It basically uses the display to show the image that the camera picks up. If you don't have the camera installed, it's not necessary.

Anyway, when I installed my camera, I tapped the reverse light wire at the rear of the car. Basically, I opened the rear hatch, removed the rubber trunk seal, then took off the panel in the back. The one with the trunk light in it. Back there, you'll find a wire harness. The reverse light wire is the light green one.

I'll look and see if I have any pics from when i installed my camera.
